Technological Innovations That Are Improving Education

The field of education is always changing. The advancement of computers and the internet have changed how we teach. With every passing year new technologies are paving the future of education. Today we are going to take a deeper look at a few of the newer technological innovations that are helping to improve education.

Skype

But that did not stop teachers from around the world to utilize its amazing potential. Now teachers are using Skype to teach children in areas of the world that previously lacked a formal education system. This has help thousands of students attend class on a regular basis without the need to travel.

Wireless Internet

Having access to wireless internet may seem like a common part of everyday life for many. But some people, even in the United States lacked access to the internet. Many companies have worked hard to reach more customers and give them access to wireless internet. This has helped rural communities across the globe improve their schools and give their children access to a wealth of information.

Luci Light

In some parts of the developing world, having access to electricity is a luxury instead of a privilege. While many of children attend class in the daytime, when they come home they have no light to do homework or continue their studies. Some students, on the other hand, work during the day to help provide for their families basic needs. This gives them little time for school work and nights are their only free time. Mpowerd has worked to change this by developing a portable solar powered light source they call Luci Light. This device can be charged during the day and used by students and their parents during the night time hours to study. It provides up to 12 hours of light on just one single charge.

Smart Whiteboards

In the past teachers would use a chalkboards to explain mathematical equations and other demonstrations. But this was a limited way of explaining things and it lacked real world visuals. Now fast forward a few decades and we have Smart Whiteboards. These boards are connected to the internet and can help educators explain things in real time. Instead of using chalk teachers can make their curriculum come alive in 3D. This helps students to not only learn faster but they also retain what they learned easier.
